# Check a home’s location against your daily journeys

A neighbourhood name is an introduction. The route from your door to the places you need is the useful comparison.

## Choose the journeys you actually repeat

Write down work, study, family visits and other regular destinations. Add the departure and return times that matter, including a weekend journey if it is important. Use your current transport arrangements, not an assumed future vehicle or service. Two homes in the same area may fit those journeys differently because their entrances connect to different roads.

## Confirm the exact entrance

Ask which gate, building entrance or road serves the unit. Sakenly’s map may use approximate coordinates, so use it for context and clarify the route with the advertiser. A map marker does not establish walking access, a particular parking space or a journey time. Keep an unconfirmed entrance as an open question; do not silently substitute the centre of a compound.

## Compare at meaningful times

If possible, try the journey at the time you would travel. Record when you checked, the route and any unusual circumstances. A single trip is an observation rather than a permanent travel-time promise. If you cannot visit, ask for specific access details and label the commute untested. Avoid ranking a home as better solely because a map suggests a shorter distance.

## Include the last part of the journey

Consider the route from a drop-off point to the front door, carrying shopping or accompanying children. Check crossings, stairs and lift access during the visit. Ask about visitor and delivery access. These questions matter separately from a district’s general reputation, and their answers belong to the specific home rather than every listing in the area.

## Use a small route table

For each home record destination, departure time, confirmed entrance, observed route and unanswered points. Put distance and travel observations in separate columns. If an essential journey cannot work, remove the home before spending time on optional amenities. If both homes are still plausible, plan a second check for the unanswered route rather than awarding a confident score based on incomplete details.

## A practical case and next step

Suppose two map pins look equally close to work, but one entrance requires a different approach road. Compare the confirmed routes, not the apparent gap between pins. If you cannot test one route yet, write that clearly. Ask about the precise entrance and check the journey later before making it the main reason for preferring that home.

## Questions about this guide

**Does a closer map pin mean an easier commute?**

No. Access, route and time of travel matter.

**Does this guide recommend a particular area?**

No. It explains how to compare an area against your own routine.

## Keep the next step clear.

Practical guides for the next part of your search.

### [Maps & location](https://sakenly.impulse-apps.de/areas/map-and-location/)

The map connects a price with a place. Use it to understand an area, then confirm the specific location details you need with the advertiser.

### [Prepare your search](https://sakenly.impulse-apps.de/find-a-home/search-preparation/)

A useful search begins with a few decisions you can explain. Use this brief before browsing, then update it when a real listing answers a question.

### [Questions for a viewing](https://sakenly.impulse-apps.de/find-a-home/viewing-questions/)

Use the visit to answer questions you cannot settle from photos. Record what you saw separately from what someone told you.
