# Write a first property enquiry that gets a useful answer

## Identify one property

Start with the listing or unit reference and your purpose. If you are contacting an advertiser about several homes, keep the questions separated. “Is it available?” is difficult to answer when a seller has several listings. Do not describe a fictional listing as an available home; use this template only with a real reference you already have.

## Give only the context needed for this reply

State rent or buy, your intended timing and one essential requirement that is not clear from the advert. A move-in month can be useful; your full personal history usually is not. Leave identity documents, login details and payment information out of an initial enquiry. Ask how any later document request relates to the specific purpose before sharing information.

## Ask two answerable questions

Read the listing first and choose gaps rather than repeating every published detail. Ask about availability for your timing, the included furniture, the exact viewing unit or the meaning of a displayed amount. Keep separate topics in separate sentences. A short message with two concrete questions is easier to follow up than a large list of unrelated demands.

## Make the next step specific

If you want a viewing, offer a time window and ask for confirmation of the meeting point and person. A request is not a confirmed appointment. ## Adapt the template before copying it

## A practical case and next step

Suppose the listing already answers furnishing but not the access date. Remove the furniture question and ask about timing and a viewing of the exact unit instead. If the response only answers one item, follow up on the other. Keep the actual reference in the thread.
