Compare two homes after you have seen them

The last home you saw is often the easiest to remember. A consistent record makes the comparison fairer.

Reviewed:

Write the record while the visit is fresh

For each home, note the listing reference, exact unit, visit date and time. Record what you directly observed and what the advertiser said in separate columns. Include any part you could not inspect. Keep these personal notes in your own notebook or file; Sakenly’s comparison tool should not be described as a personal notes editor.

Use the same essentials for both homes

Take the requirements from your search brief: timing, rooms, access or a particular journey. Label each confirmed, not suitable or unanswered. Compare essentials before balconies, decoration or an attractive photo. An unanswered condition does not earn a positive score. If one home fails a genuine requirement, say so clearly rather than letting a numerical total hide the problem.

Put listing figures on a comparable basis

Record price meaning, currency, furnishing and any separate amounts explained by the advertiser. Keep purchase and monthly rent separate. A home with an unclear payment description cannot be ranked confidently by its headline amount. Use Sakenly’s listing comparison for the actual fields in the product preview, while keeping viewing observations outside the app.

Explain differences rather than just ranking

For example, one home may have a confirmed move-in date while another has better storage but unclear access. Write the trade-off in a sentence. You can then decide whether the unclear point is worth a follow-up or a second visit. A score helps organise your preferences only if its assumptions remain visible; it does not establish a property’s market value or quality.

Choose the next question, not an automatic winner

Select the two open points most likely to change your decision and ask them directly. Update the record with the reply date and keep the earlier observation visible if it differs. The free app preview comparison holds two homes, with up to four for Pro; app release remains pending. No comparison creates a reservation or replaces the separate checks needed before an agreement.

Example wording to adapt

Home A fits the move-in date and access requirement. Home B has better storage, but the included furniture is unanswered. My next step is to clarify the furniture before comparing again.

A practical case and next step

Suppose you prefer the second home’s appearance but its access date is unanswered. Keep the first home’s confirmed date visible and ask the second advertiser the missing question. The right next action is not an automatic winner. It is the clarification that makes your comparison meaningful. Update your own record when the reply arrives without removing the original observation.
